#DYK #bustips If you are on a hot hot bus, please know it's not the driver's choice. All buses have AC, but not all have working AC. The hottest place to sit is the rear of the bus, on that big diesel motor. And if the air conditioning is running & people open windows, the air is going right out the window. The vents are in the ceiling & the cooler air is sucked right out the window. ATU members are heroes. This week, one of our Local 508-Halifax, NS, ferry crews noticed someone had fallen in the water from shore. That crew was leaving the dock so they radioed the incoming ferry. Captain Gabe Benoit, Mate Shannon Cunningham, Engineer Jason Barnes, Deck hands Ben McInnes, Bill Clark and security guards on the incoming ferry immediately went into action. Shannon was a certified rescue swimmer, who jumped in to bring the person ashore and carry the person in water up with help from the rest of the crew.
