At this point in time, there is no better job for Tommy Lloyd than @ArizonaMBB. If you don’t want to call the Wildcats a “blueblood,” that’s fine. But he’s not leaving for North Carolina or the other “blue bloods” that could open next year. Just spend a basketball weekend in Tucson to understand that.

This is the difference in standards between Duke and UNC. One is satisfied with beating Duke. The other has postseason goals. Carolina is a bleeding program, which is really sad to say. Bad for the sport.

Feels relevant enough to bring this up again: Todd Golden is not going to leave Florida. North Carolina is about to open up when they fire Hubert Davis, and they figure to at least see if Golden picks up the phone. But answer me this: What does UNC have that Florida doesn't? Why is Chapel Hill a better place to win today than Gainesville? Spoiler: it isn't

Mikel Arteta explained something extremely important to me and a few people. He said he chose Kepa because it is only fair to do so. In my world, how to treat people is more important than winning a single trophy because how you treat one player demonstrates who you are and how you will treat the others watching that. This is what makes Mikel a very special manager and why his players love him. In his world he manages human beings not machines collected to win trophies. This is the difference between Mikel and Pep.

@thearsenalscout I think it’s a bigger picture. He asks a lot from our players. To keep the team bought in there has to be real love and respect in the room. That’s what this is about. Winning is a by product of that. FWIW - it’s something UNC great bball coach Dean Smith would have done.

Can someone articulate to me “what is the worst thing that could have possibly happened” if we had picked Raya, and still lost? Kepa would be upset, then what? We struggle to sign a high quality number 2 in the future? Then what? What is the worst case scenario?

@GoonerTaIk No - it was the right decision. It wasn’t just about today it’s about the player/coach culture.

Arteta says he thought starting Kepa was “the right thing to do” and he’d made “no promises to play him in certain competitions.” Sorry, but this makes it so much worse. If he isn’t expecting to play, and he hasn’t been told he’ll play, what possible reason is there to play him.
