I remembered spending countless nights preparing applications for the program when I was Vice Dean of Tohoku Law School. In a way, those were part of my youth, even though the work itself often felt like bullshit.

Yesterday, at a faculty meeting, I learned that MEXT had abolished the Kasan Program, a performance-based funding program for law schools. mext.go.jp/a_menu/koutou/… Until then, I had not known about it, since I left my administrative position at the law school in March 2022.
