This little saga is just yet another example of why political communities cannot be organized around abstract rules and procedures for long. Sooner or later, the group WILL disclose what side they are actually defending, all while using the language of universal openness as a weapon to advance that cause. Case in point, the fight against “banned books” was never a real thing. It was always about protecting books that fit a specific political worldview while pretending to stand for free speech in the abstract. That’s why this blatant contradiction doesn’t even bother these people. A “banned book” is only worth defending so long as it’s transgressing against regime-approved targets. The moment it’s actually a book they hate, all the language immediately changes and the ban becomes justified or explained away as not really a ban at all.

Vi borde införa skoluniform i Sverige. Som en del av många nödvändiga förändringar. Jag hade det när jag gick på grundskolan i USA. Det var skönt med ordningen och förutsägbarheten i det. Det fanns även en respekt för struktur som saknas i många svenska skolor.

Jag försvarar helhjärtat rätten att ge ut böcker - även när underlaget är tunt, strukturen svajar och handlingen inte håller ihop. Det hör till yttrandefriheten och det kreativa kaoset. Men när någon, med hjälp av skattefinansierad media, driver ett spektakulärt men innehållslöst infiltrationsprojekt, inte avslöjar något av verkligt värde, ändå belönas med journalistpris på journalistpris - och sedan ges utrymme att ge ut en ännu mer ihålig bok som återigen hyllas och pumpas ut via samma offentligt finansierade kanaler - då är det mer än bara genant. Det är ett hån. Ett hån mot de tusentals skickliga författare som sitter på skarpare analyser, starkare berättelser och genuina idéer, men som aldrig släpps fram. Som saknar kontakterna, plattformarna och kapitalet för att ens få en chans. Det här handlar inte längre om yttrandefrihet. Det handlar om ett slutet system som belönar sina egna - och samtidigt föraktar dem som faktiskt har något att säga.
