I’m Alex Vindman and I’m running for the U.S. Senate. Chaos, corruption and sky-rocketing costs are crushing ordinary people, while the billionaires and career politicians profit. I stepped up when my country needed a soldier, I reported corruption at the highest levels of government, and now I’m stepping up again to fight for Floridians.

This Memorial Day, I join my fellow Americans in honoring our fallen who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedoms and our 250 year old democracy. I served with too many soldiers who tragically never made it home to their families. Today, we should come together, honor their sacrifice, and support the families they left behind.

Florida homeowners are already paying some of the highest insurance costs in the country. Now, premiums could rise up to 75% by 2035, with some families spending more on insurance than property taxes and gas combined. Raul Castro is 94, and he has spent a majority of those years committing innumerable crimes against the people of Cuba. I've talked with many Cuban Floridians, and what the Cuban people want is clear: regime change, freedom, and a fresh start. My family fled communism when I was 4 years old. I hope Raul Castro rots in jail. Our leaders in Washington must think boldly and clearly about ending this regime while remaining skeptical of U.S. military force, as it has proven unsuccessful in securing American interests and a functioning democracy in the past. Freedom for Cuba demands a real plan, not an open-ended show of force with no clear endgame.

My family fled communism and arrived in the United States as refugees. The Soviet communist regime collapsed, and Cuba’s dictatorship will inevitably meet the same fate. We must help guide Cuba toward freedom — for the benefit of our entire region. May we soon celebrate alongside Cubans a true Independence Day, with Cuba Libre.
