Scientists at Washington University School of Medicine have developed a nasal nanotherapy that shows strong potential for treating aggressive brain tumors. Their approach uses gold-core spherical nucleic acids that travel from the nose to the brain and activate the STING immune pathway. Once activated, the immune system begins attacking tumor cells much more effectively. In mouse studies, the treatment — especially when paired with T-cell–boosting drugs — eliminated glioblastoma tumors after just one or two doses. Though still in early stages, this research represents a promising new noninvasive strategy for brain cancer treatment.
