This deity (according to him) must have certain attributes such as power & knowledge, this is similar to our understanding in Sunnī Islām where Allāh's essential attributes include qudrah & ʿilm. Yet he argues that this "fundamental deity" does not need to have maximal attributes such as being the most powerful or the all knowing: “However, the explication of ‘god’ as a fundamental deity does not necessarily entail these maximal attributes, which thus allows for a more inclusive understanding of divinity that can accommodate a spectrum of supernatural qualities.” This line of reasoning seems to be argued for the sole purpose of accommodating "lesser deities" within his classification of a “fundamental deity,” what I can best describe as an accommodation for either the divine council or the Trinitarian Godhead.
