Ugandan Army Leader Offers to Send 100,000 Troops to Defend Israel
Uganda's top military commander General Muhoozi Kainerugaba announced on social media Friday evening that he stands ready to send 100,000 Ugandan soldiers to Israel. He said he would lead the force himself to safeguard the Holy Land.
In the message posted on X Gen. Muhoozi declared: "I'm ready to deploy 100,000 Ugandan soldiers in Israel. Under my command. To protect the Holy Land. The land of Jesus Christ our God!"
The general who heads the Uganda People's Defence Force also holds the position of Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations. He is the son of President Yoweri Museveni and has voiced backing for Israel in past statements.
Those earlier remarks highlighted religious connections rooted in Christianity along with thanks for Israel's aid to Uganda during conflicts in the 1980s and 1990s. The new proposal names a troop total far larger than the active duty size of Uganda's military. Official estimates place active personnel at about 45000 with some reserves available.
Such an overseas operation on this scale would need clearance from the national government and President Museveni. It would also involve major planning for transport supplies and possible talks with other countries. No statement has come yet from the Ugandan presidency or cabinet to treat the proposal as formal state policy. The words remain a personal comment from the general’s own X account.
Israeli authorities have issued no public reply to the offer so far. Known in Uganda for frequent and outspoken posts on security politics and faith issues Gen. Muhoozi is sometimes called the Tweeting General. Observers see him as a possible future leader after his father.
This latest post continues a pattern of dramatic, faith-driven statements from the Ugandan military chief amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
