England defender Jarell Quansah was sent off after a VAR review, forcing England to play with 10 men for the rest of the match. Harry Kane converted a penalty to make it 3 to 1. Most teams would have accepted defeat. Mexico attacked even harder. Raúl Jiménez buried a penalty to cut the lead to one, and the final 20 minutes became an all out assault on England’s defense. Wave after wave of Mexican attacks tested the Three Lions, while more than 80,000 fans pushed their team forward inside the Azteca. England held on.
