The legend that was Balmont Mast has passed away in retirement @TaraStud. Unsold as a yearling, he earned over €500k, was narrowly beaten in the Golden Shaheen and finished 4th in the Singapore International Sprint for #FastEddie 🌍 So many great memories, rest in peace champ 🙌🏼

In my view, one important point is that four of the Group 1 winners born in France were raised in relatively small breeding operations, from relatively inexpensive coverings. Apolon de Charie was bred by Mr. Molliere, who works as a transporter of construction materials and also runs a small farm with cows and two mares on the side. This is no coincidence: the major French breeders hardly export any horses anymore and instead race their own production in France under their own colours. As a result, it has largely been the smaller French breeders who have been selling horses to Ireland or England in recent years. Finally, this is the third time in the last ten editions of the Festival that French breeding has produced 12 Group winners.
