We weave together basic biology and translational physiology to investigate the pathology in neuromuscular disorders which affect infants and young children with an emphasis on the respiratory system. We also investigate cutting edge therapies to treat these disorders.

2 of them began their lab careers online 4yrs ago in the @elmallahlab. They crushed presentations of their thesis work at several forums across @DukeU in their final weeks, including @DukePedsRes Retreat and together they will be co-authors 7 manuscripts. #ProudPI

My first #ASGCT was in 2011 when there were ~1500 attendees. It’s been several years since I have been able to attend and it is incredible to see the growth of this field in person. From hotel basement conference rooms to filling an entire convention center.
