Every week/month new games from solo or small developers often "out of nowhere", achieve success in the 100Ks of units, and at times millions. The industry is not broken, has simply evolved over the years and the old models often do not fit into the new reality.

Hit 18 years at Paradox today which is pretty crazy (has it really been 8 years since I got my sword?). Making games is hard and getting harder, but its incredibly satisfying and Paradox is a great place to do it. Really looking forward to getting to share more about my . I remember us announcing hoi4 maybe 4-5 months into development - it was a different time :D Outside of my current GD work I have for the last 10 months or so taken on responsibility as studio manager for one of our substudios (PDS is split into color coded sub-parts that operate fairly close to separate studios and manage 1-2 games) - its a pretty great system that allows us to feel small and tight despite paradox now having grown a lot since I started. One of the games my studio manages is Victoria 3 and its been really great to see it grow stronger and stronger
