To see the world, Things dangerous to come to, To see behind walls, To draw closer, To find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of life.

For last time tonight I came to see you. Over the course of 3 years you witnessed everything unfold in front of you. Little did I knew that your banks would nurture my sense of being. With a broken heart & countless memories I leave now. Not knowing when I would return again.

It’s weird times for Indians in America. But pull out the world’s smallest violin for the lobby group that seemed to welcome Trump’s bigotry in other directions, but is now crying foul when he turns, as was always going to happen, against them
Hindu American Foundation@HinduAmerican

We are deeply disturbed by @POTUS sharing this hateful, racist screed targeting Indian and Chinese Americans. Endorsing such rants as the president of the United States will further stoke hatred and endanger our communities, at a time when xenophobia and racism are already at an all time high. We ask @realDonaldTrump to reconsider, delete this post & recognize the indelible contributions of Asian Americans to our great country.

PM Modi's inference of chaotic "Academic Mohol" of Jadavpur University comes from the ideology that thrives on parochialism, prejudice & pedagogic submissiveness that hates the idea of critical public university. JU has it's own issues; Classroom Casteism,Campus hierarchies & Exclusion by Caste Politeness yet It's only public university in the state which takes stance unlike other ones. Even TMC needs to introspect why other universities have failed to be critically engaging. Is it their dominant anti intellectual politics like that of BJP?
ANI@ANI

#WATCH | Kolkata, West Bengal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, "The name of Jadavpur University used to be respected all over the world. The foundation of this campus was built on nationalism. But today, look at the situation here... Threats are being issued inside the campus. Anti-national stuff is being scribbled on the walls. Students are forced to protest on the streets instead of studying. We don't want chaos here; we want an academic environment. We don't want threats here; we want dialogue. A government that cannot save its biggest educational institution, how will it save the future of Bengal's youth?..."

Scrap the tenth schedule. Retail defection is replaced with wholesale defection. It has stifled individual conscience within parties and parliamentarians. If a politician has only to vote as per the party whip, then he or she cease to apply their individual minds. The big man or woman at the top, backed by big business, can simply buy, break or bamboozle heads of smaller parties, to cobble up a majority. This constitutional amendment has only benefited resort owners and taken away any semblance of working across party lines, on issues only.
K. C. Singh@ambkcsingh

Anti-defection law needs amending. The 2/3rd rule gets exploited by those in power. Take the Rajya Sabha- 92 Punjab MLAs didn’t elect 7 MPs to have them join BJP. So make it mandatory for any MP to resign seat if leaving party. MLAs can quickly elect replacement.

I met a very poor, elderly woman living in a relief camp in Manipur today. She saw her own son being shot with an assault rifle in front of her eyes. I expected anger. I expected calls for revenge ... a common sight in Manipur. She has seen unimaginable violence. She has lost her home, her family… everything. By all logic, she should have been the most angry. People in the camp told me she had lost her mind, that she is “crazy”. But what she told me is something even the so-called strongest among us don’t have the courage to say. She said, “No community is completely bad. There is good and bad in all communities. We shouldn’t punish entire communities for it ... their people are suffering just like us. When my only son was killed in front of my eyes and I had to run, I had two choices .. to ask for more bloodshed, or to refuse it. I chose no revenge. Because this cycle of violence and hatred has to end somewhere, and it has to end with us. Otherwise, it won’t stop till the last person is killed. Our forces can protect us from external enemies. But how will they save us if we want to kill each other?” I touched her feet. Because it takes immense courage to go against the tide and speak this truth ... even when it costs you everything. On that note, I met those living in what is perhaps the largest network of relief camps in the country right now .. in inhumane conditions. Some of them are in exactly the same state as they were three years ago when I first met them. They’re still suffering. Really bad. Most have no means of income, barely managing two square meals, as the state continues to struggle under repeated shutdowns. Story out soon.

We have a National Government that is led by BJP and Modi for last eleven years that has not built a single full fledged central University and we are talking about education here. India has approximately 56 central university for 800 odd districts,a global shame!! Ideally we should have 500 central university . India should build 5 new university each year but the Modi Government's priorities are everything except Education, Health and expansion of Public Sector.

It's Two Consecutive Days, first AC mechanic brother, second A chimney mechanic brother tells me How badly they are treated in some of the posh urban gated complex in Kolkata. Both the young men found out to be dalit from interior South 24 parganas district, a region ignored in 34 years Left rule and later by decade long TMC rule.BJP found it fertile now to harvest "Hindu Unity" propaganda. This is a state who's academics produced Subaltern Studies discourse while forgot to tell world filthy Caste supremacism embedded among Bengali Upper Castes.

On the morning after her wedding in 2008, Asha Devi was told she had to leave Gowardaha village for Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh, nearly 750 kilometres away. She discovered then that her husband Lita Manjhi and father-in-law, Lalo, were bonded labourers — and that she too had been “supplied” as one.      “Pata chala ki sasur aur pati karja mein khat raha hai (I learnt that they were trapped in debt),” recalled Asha, now 40. “Aise karke humko bhi pakad liya(That’s how I got dragged into it),” she added, sitting on a cot outside her thatched mud hut.  Forty years ago, her father-in-law had taken a 5,000-rupee loan from Ramashish Prasad Yadav, which he was still paying back in 2008. Recall the deaths of 3 innocent young UPSC aspirants in flooded basement in Delhi 2 years back. A 3 member committee was formed to check all basements used for commercial purpose in residential ares and seize them. MCD was tasked to check all basements used for commercial purposes. As usual nothing happed. Now a Delhi court has pulled up CBI over its probe into their death and further investigate dereliction of duty on part of MCD officials. now SC has directed on 18 April, the MCD in Delhi to put up list of all residential areas for commercialisation. The MCD never did anything about basements, the central committee disappeared and basements are flourishing illegally. Now both lower court and the highest court have stepped in. Let's see how they circumvent the order this time. Delhi is sinking under vote bank policy and corruption. We are 90 years behind
