Overall, our results indicate that while multiracial identity complicates racial boundaries, it does not defy them. Race still strongly shapes the partner selection of multiracial individuals. (6/6)

We find no evidence that multiracial individuals prefer other multiracial individuals without specific overlap in their racial identification. Neither do we find evidence that multiracial individuals are more likely to marry without regard to race. (5/6)

Newish publication alert! Jen Bratter and I look at who multiracial individuals marry. Multiracial individuals defy simple understandings of endogamy and exogamy. For example, if a person identified as White and Black marries a White person, is that endogamy or exogamy? (1/6)

In “Blurring the Marriage Market?” @AaronGullickson & J Bratter find that “shared Black ancestry is the most predictive of union formation” and shared Indigenous ancestry the least predictive. @uoregon Advance Publication | Demography | Duke University Press

I believe that the artist thinks people in Gaza look like they're from Uttar Pradesh, but shockingly enough, Palestinians look like other Mediterranean people, with skin tones ranging from pale to beige. The mural is the ignorance of third worldism expressed in paint.

Black community in Richmond, Virginia displeased with new “Free Palestine” mural depicting a dark-skinned woman eating a huge watermelon. White artist says he probably should have made her “less tan” 😳

After tense negotiations, months of searching, hounding down options, you manage to get a chance at a Heavy Mech type for your Periphery State. Do you go with the mobile Quickdraw, the well armored Thunderbolt, the long range Bombardier, or the anti-air Rifleman? Choose wisely.

Our paper, “Accounting for Population Age Distribution in Forecasting Migration,” w Nathan Welch & Hana Ševčíková just published in Demography. Population age structure is important for migration, but current forecasts ignore it. We propose a new method for taking it into account

AI survey respondents are indistinguishable from human survey respondents. This renders any online survey (i.e. most surveys that you read about) near useless. You're better off just polling the chatbots directly, then you can at least understand / direct the bias.

@tracewoodgrains I always thought there was something deeply ironic about that. Because no one else is doing it, nothing will stand out more on a page than the citation that is not capitalized. Feels like a total hipster move.

remember: Bell Hooks wanted to decenter her personal identity and instead maintain focus on the substance of her writings. honor her memory by writing her name with normal capitalization so it doesn’t stick out and draw undue attention to her ego
Ian Miller 👣@ibmmiller

@tracewoodgrains so you're capitalizating Bell Hooks eh? :D
