@georgebsocial Spot-on. Pulling players from their forever games is possible, but not an easy feat.

GaaS (Games as a service) games are (and have been) the MMO's of today. Remember in the early 2000s when all the MMO's came out to try to compete with EverQuest or WoW? It was a wasteland. Online shooters are by far the most competitive, brutal and unfriendly genre of games today.
Sony moved to prioritizing these sorts of games over single player games and that initiative will likely end up in ruins and they will pivot back.
The venture capital money for investing in these games is drying up and the gaming battlefield will be strewn with the remains of would-be contenders. Pedigree is essentially meaningless (other than raising money).
It's so very hard to compete in that space and retain players. People will play a new game for 2 weeks then bounce back to their standard couple of games due to friends, sunk costs (1000s of hours or time) and comfort. Streamers stream games that make them money and that viewers want to see. This is incredible friction to fight against. You need a unicorn.
As Highguard shuts down, Bungie launches Marathon in 2 days. Bungie is legendary having birthed the modern console shooter in Halo and pivoted the GaaS games with Destiny and now trying Marathon. They have the pedigree but the world is not the same as it once was. They certainly have the fanbase from 25 years of hit games but it will be interesting to see how Marathon does against all the incumbent 800lb gorillas who await Marathon in the arena.

After Diddy Kong Racing, we started creating a new adventure game featuring TIMBER the TIGER!
It was going to be an epic adventure where Timber explored the galaxy and landed on DINOSAUR PLANET. Along the way, he would encounter a small dinosaur called TRICKY who would eventually become his trusty sidekick.
Anyway - that all changed. Not long after we'd been working on the project we decided (well - I didn't) to change TIMBER into SABRE - a nod to the old 'Ultimate Play the Game' 'SabreWulf' character (Which I'd also borrowed the name of for Killer Instinct's Werewolf!)
But then, things changed again and to cut a long story short, the game became STARFOX ADVENTURES featuring FOX McCloud!
Why couldn't Timber get his own game? Sorry about the WINE-ING.lol.
Here I take a look at the game during one of my streams and start explaining how we created the gorgeous graphics.
Or try to.

not only was the old science centre a core amenity for an underserved community, it also couldn't be anywhere else!! it's inside the ravine system, the natural surroundings were the whole point!!

Hi@driplamo
@reiaposting Not also that, why everything gotta be downtown, let’s build things other parts of the city, so they can be developed too

The OG Ontario Science Centre is in an excellent location, part of an art & culture corridor, near highways & gives one end of the Ontario Line purpose. The award winning OG building is a gem, nestled into a ravine. The proposed OSC is 150,000 sq. ft. smaller. #topoli #onpoli

Premier Doug Ford says the current Science Centre - at Don Mills and Eglinton in Thorncliffe - is a "terrible location." Ford says the building was "decrepit" Ford says if they renovated the existing structure you would still have a "dumpy building." #onpoli
