It will get to a stage very soon where people will start rejecting Deputy Governor position for a Senior Adviser role closer to the Governor. Let me tell you why:
Right now, there are SAs who are practically at the State Government House micromanaging Ministries, Departments & Agencies across Katsina State, against public service established protocols.
Except for a few cabinet members who are personally close to the Governor, some commissioners, most Perm Secs, and nearly all Directors in the civil service have been reduced to errand boys, reporting & often taking instructions from young advisers brought in by Gov Dikko Radda.
One insider said to me “there's no seniority or due process anymore in this place”. He uttered in frustration, “Kanena (my younger brother), we are just marking time here.”
If you dare stand in the way of one of these privileged SAs, you can easily be redeployed to a dead office or, in extreme cases, stagnated.
Well, I told him that this isn’t unique to the state civil service, it’s happening everywhere. I asked why he couldn’t raise it with someone close to Dikko. He replied, “it’s futile, he’s fully aware, bcoz if the Governor doesn’t like it, it won’t happen.” I froze when he mentioned “even the Deputy Governor isn’t spared by SAs”.
