Strong partnerships build stronger education systems. 🇳🇬 🫱🏾🫲🏻🇬🇧
I met with a delegation from the UK Department for Business and Trade, which included leadership from Bedford School, Harrow International School, King’s Canterbury, and Dragon International School, Oxford, to continue discussions that began during our recent engagement in London, when I accompanied President @officialABAT, GCFR, on his official visit.
Our conversation focused on strengthening school systems, improving teacher education, advancing curriculum and assessment reforms, and developing skills pathways aligned with labour-market needs and national development priorities.
We also explored practical avenues for technical cooperation and capacity building to ensure young Nigerians are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Nigeria and the United Kingdom share a long-standing partnership in education, and we look forward to deepening this collaboration for the benefit of our schools, teachers, and students.
A truly special moment today.
I had the pleasure of receiving a warm, unplanned birthday visit from members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), who came by my office to celebrate with me. Their thoughtful gesture was deeply appreciated.
Moments like this reaffirm our shared purpose — to serve the millions of Nigerian students whose futures depend on building a stronger, more inclusive education system.
My sincere thanks to NANS for the kind birthday wishes and for your continued commitment to advancing the interests of Nigerian students.
I am deeply honoured to have been named Most Innovative Cabinet Minister of the Year (2025) at the Silver Jubilee Awards organised by Independent Newspapers Limited in Lagos.
I receive this recognition with humility — not as a personal achievement, but as a reflection of the collective work we are doing to transform Nigeria’s education sector.
From strengthening TVET and advancing STEMM education, to supporting student innovators through the Student Venture Capital Grant, establishing the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI), expanding the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF), and reaching a landmark agreement with ASUU to stabilise our universities — we are laying the foundations for a stronger education system.
This progress has been possible through a one-government approach — partnering with other ministries, strengthening collaboration with Federal Ministry of Education agencies, and working closely with subnational governments to drive reforms across the country.
These efforts form part of the transformation underway through the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President @officialABAT, GCFR.
There is still much to do — but the direction is clear. And we are moving!

The distance between Makkah and Madinah is about 450 km. That means if you were driving at a continuous speed of 80 km per hour, you would arrive in approximately 5 hours.
Imagine, O believer, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled half of this distance riding on camels and half of it walking on his own feet, for eight days, accompanied by Abū Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq رضي الله عنه, in extremely hot days and very cold nights.
Our Prophet ﷺ carried his belongings and burdens that even mountains could not bear, after leaving his home in haste under the cover of darkness, fleeing with his religion from Quraysh, who had firmly resolved to eliminate him ﷺ.
Why all this hardship, exhaustion, and suffering?
All of this was so that this religion might prevail, that the universe might be illuminated with the light of truth, pushing away the darkness of ignorance and jāhiliyyah, and so that believers might live in the light of faith.
May my soul and my family be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah.
O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our master Muhammad.

President Tinubu manages a diverse family dynamic. He is a Muslim, married to Oluremi Tinubu, a Christian. Their first son, Seyi, follows his mother’s faith, while the second son, Yinka, aligns with his father’s beliefs. This blend of religions highlights a level of tolerance that is often rare in Northern Nigeria.
