Congratulations to President‑elect Laftagareen. The Federal Constitution, along with the Constitution of the Southwest State of Somalia, affirms your mandate and the legitimacy of this election. Today marks a new chapter—one shaped by trust, leadership, and the will of the people. Your victory is well‑deserved, and hope rises with it. Congratulations, President‑elect Laftagareen! #Laftagareen #Somalia #SouthwestState #Leadership #DemocracyInAction

Statement We firmly denounce the arrest and abduction of Major General Mahad Abdirahman Aadan, a long‑serving national leader who has devoted much of his career to strengthening our security institutions, including the Somali Police Force and the Somali Custodial Corps. This incident shows a blatant disregard for the rule of law and steers the country toward a dangerous and unacceptable direction. Detaining a long‑serving public official for political motives undermines the very foundations of our nation’s statehood. In recent periods, the President has taken actions that suppress individuals with differing views. Yet the abduction of Commander Mahad marks an alarming escalation, revealing a misguided course of action and a troubling abuse of authority that contradicts both the law and the state’s institutions. I urge the government’s leadership to respect the country’s laws, uphold the inherent rights of its citizens, and immediately secure the release of Commander Mahad Abdirahman Aadan, a respected and widely esteemed figure within the Somali community.#Somalia

The President needs honest counseling, and here is why: 1. Three Federal Member States have already exceeded their mandates, and when they attempt to hold the constitutionally required elections, the Federal Government is prepared to block them. This effectively keeps these states in an illegitimate condition, as seen in the Southwest State case. 2. The Presidency’s term is nearing its end, with only 51 days remaining. Continuing to govern under these circumstances is unsustainable, and the entire system risks collapsing. 3. There is a growing spark of civil conflict being used as a tool to pursue political objectives. This is a deeply dangerous development that could drag the country back into a darker era. 4. The President’s team either lacks the courage to confront him with the reality of the situation or the resolve to support him in navigating this uncertain course. At this point, they are proving entirely ineffective.#Somalia

Bismillah. Hogaamiyaha daacadda ah waxaa la gudboon in eedihii iyo khaladaadkii dhacay mudadii uu xilka hayey inuu si geesinimo leh uu u qirto kana gaarabo. Madaxweynihii hore Farmaajo waxaa ka muuqata inuu caado ka dhigtay hadba eeddii loo qabsado inuu u leexiyo qof kale oo ka darajo hooseeya. Madaxwayne Waare, Amisom, iyo UN dalka Soomaaliya looma dhaarinin, inaad eedda iska leexiso waxaa ka haboon inaad ka cudurdaarto. Waa nasiib darro in Madaxeeynihii sheegan jiray wadaniyadda uu af buuxa ku leeyahay dowladda Soomaaliya ma xukumin garoonka Baladweyne, taasoo ah gaf weyn oo qaranka laga galayo, ayna ku haboon tahay in Madaxweyne Farmaajo uu cudurdaar ka bixiyo hadalkaas. Khudbaddii Madaxweyne Farmaajo ee gaalabta wuxuu ku celceliyey in Madaxweyne Xasan uu masuul buuxa ka yahay wax kasta oo dalka ka hallaaba, taas waxaa la mid in Madaxweyne walba uusan ka dhuumanin wixii khaladaad ah ee dhacay intuu ku jiray mudda xileedkiisa.

The worst battle today seems to be the struggle that diverted the MPs flight from Garowe back to Mogadishu. If that’s all they achieved, the struggle in Mogadishu must be real.#Somalia

Somalia’s political storm feels eerily familiar: mandates shrinking, tension thickening, faces etched with uncertainty. Dragging feet won’t stop what’s coming. Sooner or later, everything converges at the negotiating table.#Somalia

Ramadan Kareem, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Islamic world, and in particular to the Somali community wherever they may be, on the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan. As this sacred period of fasting commences, our country faces the challenges brought on by drought. I urge the generous Somali community to come together, offering support and assistance to those affected, and to stand united in helping one another through these difficult times. Wishing you all a peaceful and blessed Ramadan.#Somalia

The despicable act of undermining the structure of government has taken root in parliament: there is no adherence to parliamentary rules, and no respect for the rule of law. The sole objective seems to be the hasty passage of constitutional amendments; media oversight has been removed from parliamentary scrutiny, and the gavel will be wielded recklessly to force decisions through. Parliament looks like a war zone today! This is utterly irresponsible on the part of the Speaker! #Somalia

When the pursuit of justice becomes a means to silence political opponents with differing views, it is destined to collapse. Such misuse undermines public trust in the integrity of the nation’s judicial system. An unfortunate consequence. The following two letters serve as clear evidence of justice being compromised.#Somalia

Statement At this pivotal moment, Somalia cannot risk further conflict or division. I urge the nation’s leaders to reaffirm their dedication to the 2012 Provisional Constitution—a document born from broad consensus. A constitution established through widespread agreement should never be set aside in favor of one lacking collective endorsement. This is not the appropriate time to force the leadership of the House of the People to propose constitutional changes. In its final session, Parliament neither has the mandate nor the adequate time to pass contentious laws or pursue amendments to the constitution. The government must refrain from actions that could endanger national unity, especially given the fragility of the current situation. Our leaders should prioritize mending the wounds that have fractured Somalia’s unity, not risk deepening old divisions with renewed constitutional reforms. In this challenging period of political transition, the government’s priority must be to develop a broadly agreed-upon electoral framework—a lasting foundation essential for preserving the unity and cohesion of the Somali people.#Somalia

The world has become deeply divided, with leading nations turning their backs on the rules-based order established after World War Two. Instead, we are witnessing a return to pre-war dynamics, where weaker countries are compelled to conform or face the threat of colonization, annexation, fragmentation, and exploitation of their resources, all while international organizations are increasingly sidelined. It is, in effect, a fight for survival by the strongest. Politically, we are at our most vulnerable. Aid has been drastically reduced, and the region is constantly beset by recurring droughts. This decrease in assistance, growing insecurity in once-productive areas, and the government’s failure to rally citizens around sustainable, local food production are pressing issues. Our current leadership must recognize the urgency, step forward, forge political consensus, and unite the country to address the immense challenges we face today—and those looming on the horizon. Stability, along with physical and food security at the local level, are absolutely critical to our survival.#Somalia

The executive branch of the government MUST bring the #UAE security deal to the parliament for review and seek ratification. The agreement is implemented without the approval of the parliament - which will cause a huge negative precedence and far reaching consequences for both countries. The checks and balances between the government branches must not be lost in the interest of the country. Parliament members must stand up to protect the sovereignty of the country - we must exercise our oversight responsibilities. Parliamentary leadership must not allow the parliament to be a “toothless puppet,” and ensure that the executive branch seeks parliamentary approval for entering into any deal with foreign countries.

Why has the Somali government chosen to remain silent about Aidarous Al-Zubaydi’s transit through Mogadishu? What details do they possess about his visit? Did they assist in his passage, or does their silence indicate complicity? Aidarous played a pivotal role in Yemen’s division while serving external interests. The initiatives to destabilize both Yemen and Somalia stem from a unified agenda, driven by the same external pressures. It is imperative that Parliament convene an open debate to address this issue.#Somalia
