As this administration’s term nears its end, and with the president’s strong desire to retain power, only two options remain: 1. Cling to power through military force—a coercive approach that is neither practical nor likely to succeed. 2. Engage in dialogue to negotiate the timeline and framework for upcoming elections, giving himself a fair chance to compete and prove his worth. The latter is his best course of action before the window for negotiation closes. Every other strategy is merely noise.#Somalia

The executive branch of the government MUST bring the #UAE security deal to the parliament for review and seek ratification. The agreement is implemented without the approval of the parliament - which will cause a huge negative precedence and far reaching consequences for both countries. The checks and balances between the government branches must not be lost in the interest of the country. Parliament members must stand up to protect the sovereignty of the country - we must exercise our oversight responsibilities. Parliamentary leadership must not allow the parliament to be a “toothless puppet,” and ensure that the executive branch seeks parliamentary approval for entering into any deal with foreign countries.
