Tutorial Hell. Here's how to avoid it in a few simple steps. It's VERY common for people trying to learn to get stuck in Tutorial Hell. Believe me, I get it. I make YouTube tutorials for C# so I hear this constantly from people feeling stuck. In my opinion, you need to flip the learning approach on its head. Switch it around: 1) Build things 2) Get stuck on something 3) Use article and video tutorials to get unstuck 4) Repeat The most effective way you're going to learn is by struggling through things as you're building them. Nobody wants to hear it, but it's the truth. It's the same reason the overwhelming majority of us don't just start reading textbooks and suddenly become experts on advanced calculus. The same reason you can't just watch videos of people skateboarding and be great at it. I wish. I'd be a pro sports-baller by now. You need to mess around with code and then use resources to get unstuck. I highly recommend you pick one of your interests and build a small app. Having alignment with a hobby or interest should keep you more engaged during learning! It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just: - Try building something - Add some complexity to it - Change up some of the features Then: - Get stuck - Try things out - Search for a tutorial Remember: there's no shortcut here 🙂 At the end of the day, you need to spend time building to get better at building. #SoftwareEngineers #SoftwareEngineering #SoftwareEngineer
