THE SENGHENYDD MINING DISASTER occurred at the Universal Colliery on 14 October 1913. The explosion, which killed 439 miners and a rescuer, is our worst mining accident. @AberValleyHG held a memorial service this morning at the National Mining Disaster Memorial Garden.

Last October @MarkDrakeford saw the people of Senghenydd standing silently in the rain. He ensured that the Senghenydd Mining Memorial was registered as an historic garden, as one of his last acts as First Minister. It was recognised today in the @CardiffCityFC match programme.
