We want both our religious leaders and the rulers of the land to follow and obey God. How, then, could Christians vote for a politician who does not honor God, yet still reprimand a false teacher? It’s one thing to work with Cyrus; it’s quite another to follow his pagan priests.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. The Bible doesn’t change over time. People, laws, and customs may change, but the Word of God remains unchanged forever. We must cling to His Word rather than to an ever-changing world.

@bmatlock1990 Not only him, but many others, spew nonsense while claiming to be scholars and theologians. Discernment is a rare commodity. Then again, this is nothing new. Every generation has had its issues with people spewing bad theology and with false teachers.

@Abide_in_Christ What bothers me is people will hear him and believe it. He is insulting the God he claims to represent.

Sin can entertain you through movies and TV shows with profanity, vulgar jokes, homosexual “heroes” saving the day, or other evils condemned by Scripture, only if you have already embraced sin in your own life. Many Christians are blind to how enslaved to sin they have become.

@Toneskeee John Owen said that Christ’s death brought “Peace and reconciliation, deliverance from wrath, enmity, and whatever lay against us to keep us from enjoying the love and favor of God, — a redemption from all these He effected for His church ‘with His own blood,’ Acts 20:28.”

What benefits do believers receive from Christ at the resurrection?

@ScottRoberts The Bible doesn't tell you that if you will accept Christ you will have peace… It does tell you that you will have eternal life now, with plenty of hardship and trouble and thorns and cross-bearing, and with glory in the world to come and eternity with God. —A.W. Tozer

Jesus didn't say, "Follow me and you'll be blessed." He said, "Take up your cross and follow me." The cross is an instrument of death. If your faith hasn't cost you anything, you might not have faith at all.

The wild thing is that this is someone who loves the Lord, loves to go to church, and loves to study theology. Instead of blaming Him, my friend acknowledges Christ as Lord, whether life is good or very bad. Many Christians could learn a thing or two from someone like this. 2/2

Having a quadriplegic friend changes how you see things. Many things you deem important really aren’t important at all. Not to say that some small things shouldn’t matter to you, but “Oh no, someone unfollowed/blocked me” or something dumb like that loses a lot of its weight. 1/2

I’m not against people finding love online, but you’d be foolish not to ask about faith and politics on day one. Don’t prolong the inevitable or, worse, compromise because you fell in love with a wicked person. Your spouse should honor God. Beware of being unequally yoked.

I don’t care how “right” someone might be in their political or even theological views if they don’t follow Christ. You can keep your God-hating allies who live for sin. Personally, I’d rather surround myself with God-fearing people who edify me in my daily walk with the Lord.

It is a very material point in salvation to be saved from hardness of heart and carelessness about others. Do you want to go to heaven alone? I fear you will never go there. Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself. Be sure of that. —C.H. Spurgeon

It’s madness to think you can surround yourself with the ungodly (both unbelievers and unrepentant “Christians”) and think they will not influence you. Scripture warns about such friendships, and I see many believers acting as though they can outsmart God despite His warnings.

I see many wicked people saying Christians lack “kindness and civility” when it comes to confronting sin. These are the same people who would curse you out and kill you if they could. They don’t care about “kindness and civility.” They just want your tolerance and compliance.

Matthew 8:34 And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they implored Him to leave their region. As the previous verses show, the people were fearful that their material possessions (pigs) could be sacrificed in the process of healing other people.

Emotions can get the best of us, Christians included. It’s especially clear on social media. Take war, for instance. A post makes a good point, so you overlook the profanity halfway through & share it, thus helping to spread profanity. Don’t let your emotions pull you into sin.

Before we become Christians there is a birth which is necessary… a new beginning, a new start… It’s not within the realm of the possibilities opened to men to make anybody else a Christian… How does it happen [then]? … It is God alone who can do that. —Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Saying Augustine, Chrysostom, Luther, etc., agree with you doesn’t mean you’re right. None of us has perfect theology; at best, we’re 80% right, as Calvin said. To paraphrase J.C. Ryle, infallibility is found only in Scripture, not in the Church Fathers, theologians, or pastors.

However godly you may be as a parent, you can still undo your teaching if you allow your children to spend time with ungodly children. You may raise them well, but other parents may not. In time, their children will influence yours. Be mindful of your children’s friends.

Luke 18:8 … Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” The Lord’s return ought to motivate us to keep His commandments (Jn. 14:15). Also, always be ready for His inspection (Ps. 26:2), for He may call you at a moment’s notice (Lk. 12:20).
