When I got a notice of increment, I tried to negotiate, it didn’t work out. I checked the prices of similar apartment around, I saw they are more expensive. I just accepted.

@Abidemi6 @imole__olorun It is a notice of increment. It is a close ended letter and elicits no response. It specifically states that if you're not happy with increment, you're to exit and deliver possession of the property at expiration of rent.

@VverteAutoSevcs @imole__olorun You can still write them to accept, reject or negotiate. They are definitely expecting a reaction from you. Silence in this case means rejection. And that’s why a notice to quit was issued. They are not sure if you have accepted or rejected. Houses are terribly expensive here.

@VverteAutoSevcs @imole__olorun It’s not just a landlord thing, it’s a general thing. Once someone writes you, the ideal thing is to reply . Not replying is seen as refusal and then they take action.

I think it's a landlord thing. The silence makes them uneasy. A landlord did same to me in 2022. He increased my rent from 350 to 700 midyear and I said absolutely nothing while the other tenants begged. Two months later a quit notice followed. I still said nothing. He then went physical and sadly didn't enjoy the experience.
