Trevor Noah praised #Ethiopia for building #GERD

Little is much when God is in it.

What’s easy for you is rarely what’s best for others.

The graph below should be the screensaver on every pubic and private sector decision makers’ laptop in Ethiopia, as a motivator and constant reminder where the country’s economy is headed: $6.2 Trillion and one of the 20 biggest economies in the world. Ethiopia—the world’s 10th most populous country—is now on a remarkable economic growth trajectory. By fully leveraging its massive trainable young population, developing its still largely untapped natural resources and capitalizing on its attractive and hugely important geo-strategic location, I am of the view that the economy can be even bigger than Goldman Sach’s forecast. Ethiopia used to be the leading poster child for everything wrong about Africa (remember “LiveAid”). But, with focus, creative imagination and a determination of “we can do it” “ማሳካት እንችላለን”(just look at the impressive new Addis Abeba), its leadership has started to turn it around despite legacy headwinds, which I am certain will be resolved and become tailwinds. Overall, only 3 other SSA countries ranked amongst the world’s largest economies: Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana. Africa needs more.
