Music tech is not representative. Tell us why! We're teaming up with @MusicHackspace over the coming months to find out more about the barriers women face in music tech. Please select the ONE most significant barrier you face in our poll below 👇 #IWD2021 #ChooseToChallenge

@peterkirn @eatbugse @EvBuckley We aim to make our products and the communities around them more inclusive over time, so changing the language was indeed our primary motivation here. For Link, all nodes participating in a session are equal, and there's no notion of a lead or followers.

@eatbugse @AbletonDev @EvBuckley But I hope Ableton doen't claim leader/follower excl. for Link. :) It's the terminology used by Python, etc., and remains the most popular substitute for master/slave apart from host/client, which on reflection doesn't really work for MIDI, does it? (it's was used for Rewire?)

Bonus points here - master/slave actually did confuse some people. (host/client is too technical, though, so this is a great solution)

@EvBuckley Oh and I'm sure you're right about Ableton and that was part of the logic for Link. Did @AbletonDev change any reference to master and slave for MIDI? For that matter is there a canonical new term for MIDI clock?

What is Psychological Safety? Check out the new 1-Pager, based on the excellent "The Fearless Organization" by Amy Edmonson. And thanks to @NativeWired for making sure it makes sense.

@Nikolozi This has been a mystery to many of us, as well. You’d have to ask the facility management company.
