4th generation Ram. My great-grandfather was a RMAC Conference Champion with the Aggies in 1919. Now I'm just here to talk CSU sports. #RuntheRamBall

Later that night I got an uber home from Old Town. My uber driver had just moved to FoCo and knew nothing about CSU Football. He asked if I knew someone named “Izzy Matthews,” and said he had just driven Izzy and 3 female passengers downtown who were all screaming the whole ride about Izzy scoring the winning touchdown of a football game. I don’t think Izzy got a 5 star rating that night lol

Should build Chad Morris a statue in Fort Collins for his coaching decisions in the second half. Will never forget the expression Jerry Jones had on his face in the visiting AD box as he watched Arkansas choke away this game at CSU. Almost as entertaining as the game.

Lawmakers will make an “adjustment” to the anti-expansion provision in the Protect College Sports Act so that G6 schools can move to P4 leagues, they tell @YahooSports.
More revisions are expected to garner B1G/SEC support and bring the bill to the floor

@cskinney @RossDellenger @YahooSports Congrats on the dumbest comment on the internet today. FBS was widely competitive over the last 75 years. You’re trying to make an argument on a “historic perspective” while only looking at last 10 years in a system built to advantage certain schools.
English

@RossDellenger @YahooSports Name me 1 G6 team that belongs in the P4. By no means am I saying they can’t compete on the field, but they certainly can compete from a historic perspective or financially.

@Kevin_Lytle One of Mora’s goals from his introductory press conference was to scale all of Colorado’s 14ers. Has he checked off any mountains this offseason? Or does he still have all 58 to go?

@DNVR_Rams 2014 football game at Boston College. Huge P5 victory, put CSU back into national significance, and which led to the “significant” impact of losing our head coach to Florida 2-3 years too early.

22 Days Until the @CSURams join the @pac12! 🐏
For Day 22, we are remembering an absolute trailblazer and one of the most electric multi-sport legends in the history of Colorado State.
#22, Alex "Bullet" Burl (1951-1954)! 🏈🏃♂️
At Denver's Manual High School, he won the 1949 state title in the 100-yard dash. Burl later brought that blistering, elite speed to Fort Collins. On the gridiron, he was a lethal two-way weapon, anchoring the Aggies as a three-year starter at both halfback and safety. But on the track, he became an immortal, dominating the 100 and 220-yard dashes and shattering color barriers at the university.
A true pioneer resume:
- Three-time NCAA Track & Field All-American
- Finished 6th (100 yards) and 5th (220 yards) at the 1954 NCAA National Championships
- Three-year starter at halfback and safety for the Aggies football squad
- 1954 Nye Award Winner (First Black student-athlete to win CSU's top male athletic honor)
- Played in the 1954 Chicago College All-Star Game
- Drafted by the Chicago Cardinals, but deferred his NFL career to serve in the U.S. Army
- CHSAA Hall of Fame (1999; as coach and athlete), CSU Athletics Hall of Fame (2000), and Colorado Sports Hall of Fame (2018) inductee
When his NFL career ended, Burl returned home to Denver Public Schools as a teacher and coach (track, football, cross country) at Manual and West High Schools. Throughout the 1970s, his Manual track programs absolutely dominated the state, capturing multiple team championships. Over a 30-year career, he became a legendary life-changer and mentor for generations of Denver youth, before he passed in 2009.
