Very eager to share a new article out today; we catalog and critique the ways in which social work instructors, students, and practitioners have been silenced for speaking/acting against the genocide targeting Palestinians. Linked here: apsw-ojs-uh.tdl.org/apsw/article/v…

URGENT ACTION! North Carolina is prosecuting Amanda Wallace, Founder of @StopCPSNow_ ,in response to her organizing to keep families together. Amanda’s work to hold the family policing system accountable should be celebrated, not criminalized. What can you do to support? 🧵

The violence is being perpetrated *by pro-Israel mobs* and *police.* It’s all on video. Look how New York Times describes it—trying to convey falsely that it is people protesting peacefully against genocide.

those saying that focusing on police response to students is distraction from ending genocide.. Respectfully, no Police are anti-Black *occupying* force on Indigenous lands everywhere, enforcers of global racial colonial modernity. Decolonization & abolition are intertwined.

“Prisoners are the compass of our struggle” remains as true as ever — if they do it to students, they do it in the prisons and detention centers. Palestinian freedom necessitates an end to US empire, necessitates an end to the carceral state, requires abolition.

The irony that a university named in honor of the most infamous genocider of the Americas—Columbus—is also ground zero for crushing anti-genocide protests in the twenty-first century should not escape notice.

All the stuff in the news about protests on US universities keeps reminding me that Israel blew up every single university in Gaza, and most of it's schools too.

A good way to show solidarity with Prof. Nadera is to read and share her academic work. Here are a few recommendations:

I have never seen anything like this happen before at Columbia. There is no fear left among students. Organizers were arrested en masse & when I got out of jail, I was told students occupied another lawn on their own. Hundreds are willing to risk arrest. I am so filled with hope.
