I was at a house call to help an unconscious patient, the daughter of the man was drunk and hanging around. Whilst I was actively checking him for injuries she grabbed my crotch and attempted to kiss me. Obviously I pushed past her and had my juniors move her along. I then filed a formal complaint with my hospital, the police department and whilst I was doing that back at the transfer a male colleague told me I should “enjoy it” because I’m a man. I then took his name to HR and he will be spoken to in office tomorrow. As much as this was a moment for me, it’s unfortunately not an isolated incident and does somewhat come with the territory. I felt more for my juniors who had to witness something so triggering. I hope that the woman has a hard look at herself and really addresses whatever is going on for her that made her believe this behaviour is okay. For anyone who has gone through similar experiences, just always remember you’re not alone, report the happenings whenever you can as early as you can. Stay safe.
