In a meta-analysis of 36 cohorts and 5.3 million people with type 2 diabetes, GLP‑1 RAs and SGLT2 inhibitors were each linked to ~20–25% lower risks of HCC and other liver-related events, while DPP‑4 inhibitors showed no hepatoprotection and were associated with higher rates of non-HCC liver complications. journals.lww.com/hep/abstract/9…

I really get excited about high-impact papers. This one is an instant classic. The investigators surveyed ~250 TBI survivors and ~250 TBI caregivers, an average of 12 years after the injury. They asked – what is the minimally acceptable outcome that is acceptible after severe TBI? Both survivors and care givers agreed –– recovery of yes/no communication is the basic common denominator. Being able to have any semblance of control about what happens to you. A basic human right, worth experiencing. So interesting. In my ICU end of life conversations moving forward, I am going to use "yes/no" and "following commands" in equal balance when descibing MCS/coma outcomes. Saying yes or no –– sounds a way lot better than following commands. #curingcoma @HarvardHealth @VUMCDiscoveries Perspectives of Persons With Lived Experience on Acceptable ... : Critical Care Medicine journals.lww.com/ccmjournal/abs…

11a) Take a look at 🔓 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41528278/. 555 pts (315 ♀️), mean ± SD age 68.7±11.0. 3/5 had bilat sx. Biopsy procedure proved safe. Amyloid was ID'd in 216 (39%) cases (51% of ♂️ and 30% of ♀️ pts), more frequently in tenosynovial than transverse carpal ligament biopsies.

The signal linking GLP‑1 RAs with non‑arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy #NAION: hazard ratios up to ~7 in retrospective cohorts, but absolute risk remains low and must be weighed against the substantial cardiometabolic benefits. academic.oup.com/jcem/article/1…
