PE’s presence in the US healthcare industry has grown dramatically over the past two decades. The number of healthcare businesses acquired by PE firms rose from 352 in 2010 to 937 in 2020. Between 2019 and 2023, 65% of physician practice acquisitions were completed by PE firms.

Separately, the complaint asks the Bar to examine Woodward’s simultaneous representation of Mr. Nauta and Mr. Taveras, two clients in the same criminal case whose interests became directly adverse, even as his fees were paid by a PAC controlled by President Trump.

NEW: CfA asked the DC bar to investigate Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward. As the sole gov. signatory on the deal creating Trump’s $1.776 bil fund to pay out the same Jan 6 defendants and Trump associates Woodward previously represented, he may have broken bar rules.
