@DanielOlimac "But do gamers notice/care?" If you take away the Xbox logo off, I doubt anyone would notice much less care. While it's true that Xbox controllers are plugged into PCs more often, in terms of brand strength it would be like wondering which brand of USB stick is more well known.

The Xbox controllers are, arguably, the biggest brand expression for Xbox globally. Their mass adoption from PC gamers made them the quasi-default gamepad for gaming on PC and allowed the brand to reach far more consumer hands this way than with actual Xbox consoles. Even in a market like China, the Xbox logo is mostly recognizable through its association with PC gaming, more than console. If there's something that Xbox did well with its branding and marketing in recent years, was the dissemination of its controllers. But do gamers notice/care?

If Sony manages to convince the millions of Chinese PC gamers to replace their Xbox gamepads for a DualSense, that would be a brutal move against Xbox as a brand! I don't think they will (Xbox controllers are just too widely adopted). BUT, whatever market share PlayStation can take away with this PC controller, is a piece of the pie that Microsoft will likely not be able to take back, and further erode Xbox's brand among consumers. (Personally, I far prefer the Xbox controller. The asymmetrical analog sticks is the optimal configuration, imo)

@mcquack306 For the benefit of anyone reading this thread: Hideaki Nishino is now the ONLY President and CEO of SIE. The co-CEO setup with Hermen Hulst was just a short stint, and Hulst is now back to just being Head of Playstation Studios reporting to Nishino.

@chaosprimeZ @mcquack306 Yes you're wrong. Hideaki Nishino is now the SOLE CEO of SIE after the short lived co-CEO setup he shared with Hulst. Hulst has been "demoted" back to being Playstation Studios Head, and now reports to Nishino.
