The Bosuns Call is a whistle used to make announcements or pipes in @RoyalNavy which used to be used for all sorts of things. Such as to inform the crew to get their food whilst it’s still hot, hence ‘piping hot’ and at the end of the day when all must be quiet we ‘Pipe Down’
