I worked with my comrade @OgwalJos to secure high yielding maize and soya seeds for two cooperatives. We even went on to train farmers on best practices. The results, farmers dodged repayment of the seed loans. Many of the members disappeared! We abandoned the project after getting hit by huge losses.

Unfortunately it is a mindset problem,while running a national farmers organisation i have noticed farmers groups in Nothern Uganda are always waiting for donations while those in the central and west are doing self mobilisation to save and and grow on their own .

Damalie, I come from the North and this is one of our inconvenient truths. Years of war left thousands in situations they are not able to get out of. The dependency syndrome has not helped at all. I have worked with cooperatives in my village area and it’s super disappointing to see how they manage their affairs. Can we discuss some ideas to support our efforts from the village level? Hearing this from an outsider should make us all rethink our approach to poverty alleviation in the North. Thanks again for highlighting this.

@ollamson hello, I am with many people at kolololo since 9am processing letters to confirm validity of our IDs, so far none is issued. 9am - 3pm is not a good way to get one letter
