After reading our new book Jasper’s Beanstalk, we have enjoyed sequencing the story using the story blocks. @SchoolWhitegate

Yesterday we started our week of learning all about Chinese New Year. A huge thank you to Mrs Ho for coming in to talk to us about how people across the world celebrate. @SchoolWhitegate

More outdoor fun today in Acorns, testing out our new scooter boards! @SchoolWhitegate

Today in Maths we have been exploring partitioning numbers up to 5 and recording what we see. @SchoolWhitegate

We have had great excitement in Acorns, after we received a delivery of some new construction equipment for our outdoor area. We have loved building different structures as well as having great fun playing in the box it all came in! @SchoolWhitegate

Today we have been working on counting backwards. We did lots of maths activities practising putting numerals in descending order from different numbers down to 10. @SchoolWhitegate

To support our phonics, we have been searching for our graphemes in rice today. Once we found them, we told our friend the sound and showed them the action that goes with it. We also used tweezers to pick them up to help develop our fine motor skills. @SchoolWhitegate

Today, we put our phonics and drawing skills to the test during Adventure Time. We built tricky words and drew one of our favourite Arctic animals - a walrus. @SchoolWhitegate

Today in Science we have been learning about rain, ice and snow. We talked about how the clouds are formed and learnt how rain and snow falls from the clouds when they get heavy. We made parts of the water cycle using crafts materials and drew simple diagrams. @SchoolWhitegate

Today in Acorns we have begun to explore tactile mark making. We will later use these to make an imaginary landscape. @SchoolWhitegate

In Maths we have been exploring finding one more. We enjoyed using the number fans and tens frames and counters to show the number that was 1 more than a given number. @SchoolWhitegate

Acorns had lots of fun today painting with ice and talking about Winter. @SchoolWhitegate

Today we read our new text ‘The Great Explorer’. We discussed lots of new vocabulary from the book and then had a go using the vocabulary to retell parts of the story using our Great Explorer Tuff tray and role play area. @SchoolWhitegate

Today, we have been revising our number bonds to 4, 5 and 10. We used a variety of methods including our fingers, heads and cubes to work out the missing parts of each bond. @SchoolWhitegate

This morning we had a visit from Mr Heathcote, who came in to talk to us about his bees and about being a bee keeper. We even got to try some fresh honey from his hive! Thank you Mr Heathcote we loved it! @SchoolWhitegate

Acorns enjoyed getting outside this morning and taking on some super challenges. Our favourite activities were spraying the tricky words with water and going on an outdoor scavenger hunt. @SchoolWhitegate
