Dr. Marie-Eve Domingue speaks about pain relief for patients with #acromegaly. Joint pain in those with acromegaly is 2 to 9 times more common than in those without it. It affects over 70% of patients, even in remission, and strongly contributes to a loss of quality of life.

Dr. Vincent Larouche discussed aggressive #acromegaly and its challenges. Anywhere from 4.5 to 31% of acromegaly cases are aggressive, often in younger patients. Surgery is typically recommended, as reducing the tumour volume can help patients respond better to medical therapy.

Dr. Alescia Azzola provided a look at the role of genetics in pituitary diseases. Only about 5% of patients with growth hormone excess have an inheritable genetic cause, but genetic testing offers early detection + diagnosis, as well as tailored medical strategies. #Acromegaly

Dr. Ally Prebtani spoke about diabetes, which affects about 1/3 of patients with acromegaly. Increased growth hormone can lead to insulin resistance, and some acromegaly medications can worsen glucose. What's important: regular monitoring and personalized treatment. #Acromegaly
