Weird but True facts about the COELACANTH FISH 1. It's a mere fish 2. Male becomes sexually mature between 40-69 years 3. Female becomes sexually mature in their late 50's 4. Gestation period is 5 years 5. Produce young ones alive 6. Have a lifespan of upto 100 years

True but weird: Most of the dreamy white sand on tropical beaches isn’t sand at all, it’s parrotfish poop. These fish munch on coral all day, grind it up in their guts, & deposit the finest beach sand you’ve ever walked on. One parrotfish can poop out 100s of Kgs of “sand” per yr

I'm coming to terms with a new definition of family: and it is not the usual Husband/father, Wife/Mother, and Children/Siblings

@ActionRealstar Thank you for tagging me ... I love to know new things. .. but eehh . I have never even thought ABT this. Water is a conductor of current but lightning doesn't affect the fish 😨

But here’s the water twist: Lightning strikes the ocean about 100x per second worldwide, and yet fish don’t get barbecued. Why? The electricity spreads out instantly across the salty water’s surface. The fish just get a mild “what the hell was that?” 😂😂😂 @BrunoAlsonM1

True but weird: The Greenland shark grows incredibly slowly, only about 1 cm per year, and can live over 400 years. Some individuals alive today were swimming when Shakespeare was writing plays 😂😂 Are you still seeking justice for the shorties ? 👠@BrunoAlsonM1

True but weird: Sperm whales have the loudest biological sound on Earth. Their clicks are louder than a rocket launch. They use those clicks like underwater sonar… to hunt giant squid in total darkness. The squid? They’re basically deaf to the loudest sound in the ocean. 😂😂

True but weird: A single lightning bolt can heat the air around it to 27,700°C 5x hotter than the surface of the sun and that insane heat causes the air to explode outward at supersonic speed… creating the thunder we hear.

True but weird: Some sea slugs (sacoglossan) can decapitate themselves & then regrow an entire new body (including heart and other organs) from just the severed head in a matter of weeks. The body eventually grows a new head too. They do this to shed parasites or when stressed.

True but weird: Most liquids shrink as they cool & solidify. Water? It expands when it freezes enabling ice to float on lakes. If ice sank instead, lakes and oceans would freeze solid from the bottom up, killing most aquatic life.

True but weird: The immortal jellyfish isn’t the only one that laughs at death; some freshwater sponges (like Spongilla) can survive being completely dried out for years, frozen solid, or even starved for months. And, they have been doing this for hundreds of millions of years.

@BrunoAlsonM1 @karothk256 A more weird fact; Greenland sharks can live longer than 400 years, and they don’t reach sexual maturity until they’re over 150 years old. What’s the slowest, most patient success story you’ve seen? Share below 👇 #WaterResources #ScienceTwitter
