Cllr Phiwokuhle Xulu@PS_Xulu

Fifth Gauteng Youth A Re Sebetseng Campaign Today, @ActionSAGPYouth held its fifth Gauteng Youth A Re Sebetseng campaign with over 50 members and residents, both young and old, gathered to tackle a pressing issue plaguing our communities 1. illegal dumping and 2. waste management. We took on the daunting task of cleaning a manmade landfill adjacent to a residential area. The primary contributors to this eyesore are informal traders selling food by the road and residents without access to proper waste disposal facilities. This lack of infrastructure forces residents to seek alternative, often illegal, means of disposing of their waste. The consequences of government inaction are far-reaching. These illegal landfills attract entire communities, perpetuating a cycle of neglect and decay. Without visible waste management efforts from the government, our areas become hotbeds for criminal activity, drug trade, and property hijacking, ultimately devastating our local economy. As the Gauteng Youth Forum, we will not stand idly by while our communities suffer. The Municipality and Provincial Government must take an immediate collaborative action to address the waste management crisis. Through our representation in the Provincial Legislature, we will engage with key stakeholders, including Emma More MPL, to push for tangible solutions. The Office of the Youth Provincial Secretary will facilitate communication with the relevant authorities to ensure that we are heard. We will not be silenced or ignored. Our government need to take responsibility for its monumental failures and work towards creating a safer, healthier environment for all. Our campaign is more than just a political initiative; it's a call to action against government negligence. We urge all residents to join us in demanding better from our elected officials. Together, young and old, we CAN create a brighter future for OUR PROVINCE, GAUTENG.

Led by our finance (focus group) committee whip, @CllrNkonyeni , we visited the revenue centre in orange farm as part of our mandate to ensure that there is relations between the City ( @CityofJoburgZA ) and its various customers, and that there are processes in place for collecting the revenues vital to the smooth functioning of Johannesburg as a world-class African city. {Watch video for detailed findings} Chairperson for finance @mpumi123 will further champion for changes in some of the challenges we found and commits to follow up on them.
