On Sept 21, 1953, a North Korean pilot defected in a MiG-15 to Kimpo Air Base, Seoul. Via Operation Moolah he claimed a $100,000 U.S. bounty (about $1.2mil in 2026). The MiG was evaluated at Kadena AFB by pilots that included Major Chuck Yeager. Spoiler: MiG-15 was a formidable but inferior fighter compared to the F-86 Sabre (more details of MiG assessment including video of gun tests in first comment)🫡
