Crypto is shapeshifting. The ecosystem we had a year ago will not be the ecosystem you'll see 2 years from now. One of the things that's causing it: crypto is getting a shake-out. Priorities and use cases are changing. My bet: the next wave won't come from AI, nor from corpo chains. It'll come from freedom of entrepreneurship.

My view on the Ethereum Foundation turmoil: I'm not here to join those bashing EF, or saying this is the end of Ethereum. I’m also not here to defend it and say all is rosy. Ethereum has many strengths, and it also has its politics. I'm here to share my point of view as a friend of Ethereum and head of an L2 that has been scaling it for quite a few years now. Our first paid project at StarkWare was a post-quantum secure, scalable, ZK STARK system for scaling Ethereum and making it quantum-ready. This was in 2019/2020. As time went on, we continued to solve problems for Ethereum, like reduce costs for DEXes, and build a next generation L2 validity rollup. We didn't always move in the same direction. Our choices (building with STARKs, building a zkVM, Cairo, Native AA, scaling Bitcoin) were not always popular. They were considered as 'misaligned'. But I'm glad we made those choices, even if for a period of time they were unpopular. They were the right choices. Were they criticized out of politics or out of merit? That's for others to judge. I am glad to see that many of them are now adopted by other teams. I do think this whole view of 'alignment' and 'misalignment' was unnecessary. What comes next? As part of the ecosystem and supporter of all things crypto, I hope the new system that will arise will give a lot of weight to merit and technology, and less for alignment. If that happens, I'll want to work more closely with it.
