@Crystal__959 @ibxtoycat Yeah and in game lava kills you, like it should. What was your point lol. Also someone did jump into a sulfur lake, not too long ago actually. We have them at popular national parks.

@Ad_Astra_simul @ibxtoycat I don’t get why we’re bending over backwards to make this sound so much worse than it is. Jumping in meter deep lava would also instantly kill you but no one’s begging them to change that. This is so painfully forced can we please find something else to complain about

@WPotato01 @ibxtoycat If it's just a video game then it doesn't need the realism and ethics rule in the first place. Regardless, there's unique ways to work it in beyond just nausea. Personally I think it should give nausea as a warning and then inflict wither until you get out the water.

@Ad_Astra_simul @ibxtoycat But like...it's a video game. It'd be kinda dumb if touching it instantly killed you. It's pretty obvious they wanted to portray it as harmful but wanted to make it a more unique mechanic than just applying poison, so they chose nausea due to being a pretty underutilized effect

Because if you stack this on top of the context, it just makes Caine sound like a narcissist, especially in the office.

@DNAzfar1 @deliharrr And I'm saying he can still be the villain while being the victim, he can still love them while hurting them, he can be limited to his programming while also having the capacity to potentially grow beyond that but just not know how. I really don't know what else I can say tbh.

@Ad_Astra_simul @deliharrr Look, I very much understand that Caine is limited to his programming, but the thing with analyzing character as a sentient being is accountability: you are responsible for what you do. So when I say adapt, I can also mean develop the concept of empathy to make better adventure.

@DNAzfar1 @deliharrr It's not binary. That's exactly what you're doing wrong here. He can both be sentient, emotional, and be alien and limited in comparison to a proper human. Maybe that could be different if he was given the opportunity to grow beyond his purpose, but he wasn't.

@Ad_Astra_simul @deliharrr I don't anthropomorphize or humanize AI. It's either he's so advanced, he's as complex as a human and therefore should be judge like one, or he's not. It's the basis of the argument here, is Caine a character or a plot device? I'm leaning on the former.

@DNAzfar1 @deliharrr You are thinking like a human, he is an AI. That is what you keep consistently missing. On top of being an AI, he's a defective AI who was rejected by his creators (from his perspective) and never taught how to empathize with humans properly. You can't expect him to just adapt

@DNAzfar1 @deliharrr His adventures are him reciprocating. He genuinely cannot grasp why they don't like them. He knows certain things make them happy, and certain things hurt, but he doesn't grasp how or why, and he's increasingly angry that all the things they like he isn't programmed to give.

@deliharrr I don't think Caine really love them. Caine just want them to love him but he doesn't want to reciprocate. Like, when did Caine ever give the cast what they want? He only cares about realizing his idea and then be angry at them when they hate it, and degrade the idea they have.
