Re "save the HSA forever rather than spend it": HSA can be inherited by a spouse. But if it's inherited by anybody else it's fully taxable immediately. Basically the worst bequest outcome -- could have been tax-free, now fully taxable in 1 year. Be sure to spend at some point!

It's mind-boggling how difficult retirement plan providers make it to roll over ex-retirement accounts. Distribution paperwork, letter of acceptance from the contra firm, get the TPA to sign-off, and then send to the old custodian. How the heck hasn't this process improved!

Feeling extra thankful for my guy Crawford today. Just before XMas he had surgery to remove a small black mass that the vet thought was aggro oral melanoma. Shockingly the mass was benign, which was so unlikely. I know one day we won’t be so lucky but for now soaking it in 🙌
