Good morning! We saw a fresh dusting of snow overnight thanks to a passing cold front. We could see a few isolated snow showers lingering thru the day, but the bigger focus is the cooldown with wind chills back in the single digits.

Our January thaw comes to an end this weekend. A weak clipper will bring a little snow tonight & tomorrow along with some wind and cooler temps. Highs will be in the 20s both days with wind chills in the single digits.

A good soaking is headed for SE MN into this evening. We mostly see rain on the northern edge in the metro, but some snow will mix in before everything shuts off by midnight. Accumulations will negligible here, but an inch or 2 is expected around Rochester.

Another weak clipper moves in tomorrow morning to kick off 2026. We'll see a few hours of light snow starting around 7 or 8a in the metro. Models are in good agreement it'll only be around an inch or less, but still enough to make roads slick.

Happy New Year's Eve! The snow showers are done and the clouds will clear a bit into this evening. But bundle up if you'll be out and about tonight! We fall into the single digits with wind chills back below zero!

Road conditions are quickly starting to deteriorate south & west of the metro! This is the view of US-169 in Mankato (as of 9:40am) and what we can expect across the rest of the area in the next few hours. You can always get the latest road conditions at 511mn.org.

Expect 5-8" around the metro with 8-12" possible in spots before the snow wraps up quickly after midnight. Blowing snow will still make travel tricky for the Monday AM commute.

It's the calm before our significant winter storm! Light snow moves into the metro by 9a & quickly picks up in intensity as temps crash. Wind picks up this aftn too (gusts to 40 mph, faster west) creating white-out conditions. Travel this aftn/eve will be dangerous & difficult!

Models really ramped up Sunday's system into a significant winter storm. It may start as a mix mid-morning, but quickly change to all snow. Wind & snow worst Sunday aftn w/ near-blizzard conditions into the eve. Snow wraps up Mon AM w/ 5-8" likely from Gr. Rapids to Glencoe east.

Confidence is growing in a winter storm w/ significant travel impacts for the metro. Snow & strong winds could lead to blizzard conditions, especially Sun aftn/eve. By Monday AM, snow totals in the metro will likely be in the 4-8" range. Plan any necessary travel accordingly!

Good morning! We've got another gloomy and grey day on the way. Slow down on the roads this AM with some fog and lingering drizzle causing a few slick spots, but those wrap up thru the morning. However, the clouds linger all day with temps staying in the mid 30s.

Merry Christmas! We've got dense fog across southern MN this AM. Later this eve, focus shifts to freezing rain/drizzle north of the metro. Take it easy on the roads & pay attention to the temps. I think we climb above 32° in the Cities this afternoon & stay there thru tonight.

Merry Christmas Eve! Our quiet stretch continues which is great news for Santa or anyone on the roads today. We'll see more clouds than sun, but highs still reach the mid-upper 30s. We will need to watch for the potential for freezing drizzle later in the day tomorrow.

BIG changes are on the way today! Temps will be tumbling, winds will be howling (up to 45 mph) & snow will be blowing thru. Take it easy on the roads this PM as untreated surfaces freeze over w/ low vis during any snow squalls. Blizzard conditions still expected across NW MN.
