If I were a player, I’d never say this. I say it all the time because I’m just a random guy on the internet. But the disconnect between what most fans think baseball is and what people who currently play the game know it actually to be is at an all-time high. The Blue Jays are a good team, but they’ve needed a tremendous amount of luck to get this close to winning a World Series. And that’s not an effort to put them down. Most teams who get this close to a title need a lot of luck. There’s a reason teams treat the playoffs like a coin flip. But saying it out loud to fans is always going to result in backlash and for players I just don’t think it’s worth it.
