What's on the other side of this scenario: When I use a team of AI agents to help me write an article or book or whatever, & you use a team of AI agents to break down my book into something easy for you to digest. What do ideas & communication (& the web) look like after this?

@AndrewDNoble There are definitely competing dynamics. But the “averaging” tendency is fundamental to how gen AI works. The sycophantic tendency is secondary, and trained intonit by the AI companies. Both are meaningful, but the first is essential.

nytimes.com/2026/01/05/us/… We predicted this in an episode of device and virtue. While the article frames it as a solution for harried parents, it overlooks the benefit of windshield time. That precious time when parents and kids have a chance to talk while they drive together.

When a writer writes something I find confusing, I can spend fruitful effort seeking to understand the writer's mind. But when an AI generates something confusing, no amount of effort will yield another mind to me, and a sense of meaningless toil slowly begins to wash over me.

Cool, simple app developed at a recent hackathon. Enables church services to share "this week's Bible passage(s)" in a clean web app, using a QR code. So congregants can follow along. Click "Try Last Flow" to check it out. bibleflows.com

Just got an email from a Boomer and in the signature it said… “Sent from my I-phone” which is totally giving Martin Buber vibes, à la “I-Thou” …which honestly is probably pretty accurate.

@pauljpastor A fair assessment of the landscape. Now how those 3 subjects relate to and influence each other is the next question.

@AdamGraber There are multiple possible answers to that question! (Pulls on tinfoil.) -creators of LLM or other human actors -LLM itself operating in unforeseen or uncontrolled way that mimics autonomy or has outright inscrutable agenda -actual demons (it’s always demons)

Let’s stress that this (inevitable AI hallucinations that require constant human monitoring) is the BEST CASE of the phenomenon. LLM’s could also be *intentionally misleading* their users for any of a host of reasons, or for absolutely no reason at all.

@AndrewDNoble Wisdom and trust are a couple more, perhaps linked to virtue and idol. Those are themes i have been working with recently.
