have recently been approached about some really good jobs but they were in office in SF or NYC only. I get the appeal of the cities, I really do. I love to visit. If I was 10 years younger I might go.
The reality is we have 3 kids and live 45 mins from both of our families. They come to every school performance or sporting event.
Our house is 3 bed, 2 bath and 2200 sq ft for $1800 a month. Our interest rate is 2.8%.
Because of this set up we are able to save and spend every few summers overseas in a dense urban area, just to expose our kids to a new place and culture.
I can freelance and essentially make an SF salary while living in a LCOL city. It feels like a cheat code.
These are all the considerations for me and why I always choose to stay.

I think this failing has not been uncommon. One could look at the stories of Bob Pierce (Samaritans Purse, World Vision), William Carey, Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley.
The question of whether we still reference teaching is a thorny one. Outside of the “This person has been established as a false teacher therefore we need to burn his books” approach. I see two main issues - Firstly the person may have taught wisdom and complete orthodoxy AND been a complete hypocrite - Secondly the persons teaching itself contained the seeds of deception…. I think we deal with these situations slightly differently.

“I have never been happier in my life. Aiden loved Jesus Christ, but Leonard Odam loves me.”
— Ada Tozer after remarrying about her first and second husband.
Their son Lowell said his mother was essentially “a single parent” while raising all 7 kids alone. A W Tozer poured himself into ministry and prayer but left his wife and children largely on their own.

@RockyRoark I still think you are one of the best illustrators out there too. 🤪

I used to be a full-time illustrator.
Like, that was the whole thing. Characters. Style development. Stories. Visual narratives. That's what I did 95% of the time.
Then, about 8 years ago something shifted. I realized the illustration wasn't the point. The storytelling aspect was.
So I pivoted my studio to branding and web design.
And it clicked immediately. Because I wasn't creating illustrations anymore. I was creating narratives.
Same skill. Different application.
Turns out I have always been a storyteller.
The medium I crafted my stories was all I changed.

@jburn I’m not done until all the dominos fall. Using Ai to handle something this important is gross.
