AI 🤝Public Health Today, @BUCEID and @BU_Computing launched BEACON (Biothreats Emergence, Analysis and Communications Network). This new tool will merge a global network of infectious disease experts with AI models to create an infectious disease outbreak surveillance network. Thank you @RobbieForChange, Yvonne Hao and everyone who made today possible!

We’re the world’s medical innovation hub. Many of the live-saving cures, treatments and discoveries made in our state were possible because of NIH. This is straight out of the Project 2025 playbook. It’s reckless, it’s unlawful, and it will cost lives. npr.org/sections/shots…

Many think viruses won’t emerge unless we go looking for them. That virus discovery & research is unnecessary, risky, or irresponsible. And still a man died of Alaskapox. Virological ignorance isn’t bliss. Viruses find us whether we look for them or not alaskabeacon.com/2024/02/09/fir…

A good source for information on the current status of efforts to treat Alzheimer's disease. My grandfather passed away from the disease in 1999, prior to any available treatment options or suggested interventions to combat this debilitating and deadly disease.

Optimism on progress vs Alzheimer's disease wsj.com/health/wellnes… by @MarcAgronin Need much better risk partitioning, early preventive strategies, and far more effective drugs— but no doubt we're making headway.
