Could argue that focusing on profitability also is forcing function for rly focusing on customers! How many high growth co's forgot about that idea over the years?

@Guay_JG @Adam_S_James @RaviMikkelsen @dax19956 Yeah, the anecdotal evidence, born out by a recent @shaylekann podcast, is climate tech has been doing >= than VC generally, but all the froth has evaporated. It's a harder, realer landscape for founders.
Basically, it's gonna be hard to start a new carbon management saas.

@RaviMikkelsen @Guay_JG @dax19956 This seems correct! Some culling, also, of co's that shouldn't have been able to raise so much. Similar to the SPAC hype: co's that were IPO-ready did fine in the backlash. Co's that did a SPAC to paper over IPO-unreadiness did not. Great companies are still raising good rounds.

With just one chart, we can’t say one way or another, but from my anecdotal evidence “in the arena” is that it’s still very healthy. If we had more charts with numbers of company funded at each stage and then funding per company we could get a much more accurate picture. IPOs and later stage rounds have been delayed to this year or next as those investors are looking for revenue and not just “user growth” and so companies have gone through RIFs and shifted focus to fundamentals. Early stage deals are still plentiful, but at lower valuations.
