@HailtoEngland Not once said politics and football don't mix. Have said you can't escape politics in anything. Have said that I don't think any club should be affiliated with a political party and that includes allowing the club to be used for party promotion. And, yes, that means ALL parties.

Getting a lot from this - mainly anonymous accounts/clearly bots - but a few #wba fans, too. My thoughts on Albion fans sending me stick: I will assume that if you support Farage/Lowe, you're opposed to our history. The Three Degrees don't happen without immigration.

@sooty19771 @t_cdedwards I've said, repeatedly now, that I don't think any club should be affiliated to any political party. If a local MP came to the club to see community work, fine. Celebrating clubs work. If any Party leader comes to promote their party, not the club/clubs work? Not fine.

If Farage turned up at the Albion and used us for some PR, I think that would be it for me with football. I'm not sure I could get past it. Embarrassing from Ipswich. Feel for the many, many supporters who are probably questioning their club right now. #wba #itfc

@DanNash86 I understand your point, even if we don't agree with each other completely. Thanks for the sensible reply. As for the abuse - doesn't bother me...social media, it's not real life - I won't ever see most/all of these people (if they're even actually people at all!)

@sooty19771 @t_cdedwards My opinion is that this matters to us and others...if you allow Party leaders to use clubs for their own PR, you will have issues/alienate fans. My opinion as an Albion fan is if you support Farage/Lowe, you're against our history. Silence is the same as saying it's all ok.

@Steve_Wright85 Would it really? Because I'd argue the country is largely supportive of Labour/Starmer and their handling of Trump. However, what you say is why I don't think clubs should affiliate with any party or allow self PR from them. Completely alienates (at the least) part of fan base.

@Adam_Townsend I’d feel that way if my club endorsed Labour or Kier. It’d be so out of touch with country’s mood. At least Ipswich are doing it with the party riding highest in the polls and odds on to win the next election. Shows they are onboard with public opinion too.

My personal opinion is that no club should affiliate itself with a political party. It is always too divisive and you will always alienate part of your fan base. But, of course, some parties will cause more noise. And if the leader of that party supports Trump/Putin, well...🤷‍♂️

@leefaichney Personal opinion is that no club should show affiliation to any political party. If a local MP turns up to talk about what a club has done in community - fine. If a Party leader turns up and uses the club for self-promotion/party promotion - not fine. Goes for all parties.

I don't agree with Reform and their ideology, but if Farage etc supported Albion and turned up week in/week out..I may not like them associated to the club but I'd accept it. We don't all have to agree. Using the club/club allowing use as a PR exercise? Different matter.

It has been a while, but I have seemingly opened a door to the anonymous username brigade that support Reform, Trump and even Rupert Lowe with my earlier tweet. Ah well, never mind. They do get very upset considering they are not the so-called snowflakes.

@Cla5h @chrislepkowski He does talk about his love of football and the fact he goes (and plays each week)..no doubt a lot of that will be to try to make him more appealing to some...but it is also factual, and it isn't him parading around the Emirates holding a Starmer 10 shirt like he's a new signing.

@Mand2101 @Cla5h @chrislepkowski He is the PM. What would you expect? Imagine the amount of security a PM would need in the normal seating...would be ridiculous. Would cost an absolute fortune to tax payers. Having hospitality, even for free, makes sense in his position.

@crwni Impossible to keep politics out of anything. But I don't find the irony of Farage once tweeting "Keep politics out of football" when clubs were taking the knee...now? Guess it's ok again!

@crwni Personal opinion is that a football club shouldn't affiliate with any political party. An MP visiting a club to see charity/community work is not supporting. Allowing them to film PR and self-promote and promote their party? That's supporting.

@Adam_Townsend I wouldn't vote for reform but what is the problem of a political figure appearing at a football club. Or is it only if you agree with their politics. Seen plenty of tory and labour do it. Ban all ( my choice) or ban none

@Cla5h @chrislepkowski Bit of a difference when one has been a season ticket holder for years and doesn't use his appearances for PR, compared to some guy taking pictures, doing speeches and using his time with a football club to promote himself to an audience that, unfortunately, also love football.

@conradchircop @WBA I can't believe the RDM period was that long ago. Certainly doesn't feel it!

16 years ago - some of us in the Malta branch visited the @WBA training ground, a RDM press conference, and took in the Preston & Coventry home games. A very special experience indeed. I miss the accessibility we had in that era.

What a result that is - especially with the other results today. Get in Albion. #wba
