#SuccessStory Our staff provided peer support for a consumer with a visual impairment because their nephew was not present. Our staff listened to their concerns and provided appropriate feedback. The consumer’s nephew ended up returning in the night to assist the consumer.

#SuccessStory A consumer secured an apartment for herself and her family. They contacted Alliance about making a referral to The Green Chair Project. We made the referral and the consumer purchased the furniture. They confirmed everything worked out with the move.

#successStory A consumer has been working diligently with our staff on looking for jobs that fit their needs. We helped them fill out an application at Duke Energy. They got an interview and were hired on. The consumer will now be working as a call taker on their IT team!

#successStory We provided a consumer with some resources and information on the VITA programs. They said, “I wanted to thank you for the tax information you shared! You saved me over $600 dollars. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do my taxes this year, for the first time ever.”

#successStory A consumer was recently told to leave her apartment because the building was being sold. They were successful in finding new housing this month. This consumer received a section 8 voucher and located housing with the help of her Community Support Team.

Our staff worked with a consumer who needed assistance with their utility bill. We called Duke Energy and the Department of Social Services. We referred the consumer to a resource in Fuquay-Varina for financial assistance through this and to receive the assistance they need.

#successStory A consumer has been facing discrimination and #accessibility denials at their residence. Alliance provided #PeerSupport throughout the case and has helped her become a strong advocate. We continue to provide support until they no longer face accessible barriers.

#successStory Alliance has a consumer who is homeless needing housing. They've asked how long the #TargetedUnitProgram process takes. As the referring agency, we do not know how long it takes. We contacted the Orange County Housing Helpline for help with emergency housing.

#successStory Alliance has been working with a consumer that is living independently in an apartment after 5 years of #homelessness. Staff continues to work with them on #selfAdvocacy and how to professionally ask for the services they need and are entitled to.

Proceeds will go towards expanding Alliance's existing services in North Carolina and creating new programs that empower people who experience a disability to become their own self-advocates.

A consumer needed a referral to a dentist who could provide #wheelchair-accessible accommodations. We found a location and asked about accommodations. We sent the info to the consumer and they emailed back saying, “I am happy and relieved to tell you things are in the works.”

A consumer recently moved and asked Alliance for assistance to furnish the apartment. At the time, they only had a bed. Our staff reached out to The Green Chair Project and completed the referral process with the consumer, and they got to pick out the furniture online.
