My combine, pro day experience taught me that I wasn’t one of them ones. I trained myself as I finished my degree. The Bengals were the only team to contact me post pro day, & when the draft ended only 2 teams bothered to call. The Saints pulled their offer quickly, & the Giants offered me a $1,000 signing bonus as an undrafted free agent. When my parents dropped me at the airport for training camp my mom told me, “Go get a job”. At the time that statement seemed simple enough. How hard could it be for someone no one wanted to make a NFL roster? I’d already poured everything into a sport that gave no promises of loving me back, but that gave me peace.
