The day Michael Jackson died, was the day Google crashed (from too many searches on Michael)
The Internet didn't make Michael Jackson, but got crashed by the king of pop.
In 2009, a massive surge in searches for "Michael Jackson" made Google think it was under a DDoS attack (automated malicious traffic).
Many users saw error messages like "your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware"
.
.
Reports consistently mention around 5,000 tweets per minute mentioning Jackson at peak (about 15% of all tweets at one point).
This overwhelmed the platform, causing delays and outages. Twitter co-founder Biz Stone noted the traffic doubled quickly
.
.
TMZ (which broke the news), the LA Times, Wikipedia, AOL, Yahoo, and others slowed to a crawl or crashed from overload.
Overall web traffic was 11–20% higher than normal. Wikipedia saw nearly a million visitors to Jackson's page in one hour.
.
.
.
Michael was the first to literally break the Internet. And he wasn't even alive.
And fast forward to 2026, as of now, Michael Jackson is shutting down algorithms and taking over global discussions and trending topics.
He broke the Internet in 2009 and he's doing it again in 2026
In both of these years, he wasn't even alive.
No one living or dead has been able to achieve this. No one
.
.
The same Internet that has made a lot of celebrities and talents, is the same Internet that Michael Jackson broke and crashed.
He is the king of pop and internet...Lol
.
.
May he continue to rest in perfect peace 🕊️
Thank you very much for honoring our beloved Michael Jackson by reading his works, stories and legacy.
Your children and generations will remember yours as well 🫂
Remember to stay hydrated today 💦

The Thriller album is bigger than Taylor Swift's career.
Relatable@relatable_tvd
Taylor Swift's 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮 is greater than any other song of Michael Jackson. He's overhyped.
